Prosche 356 - Week 19

I think it's finally time to talk about an old luxury sports car, a Porsche. The 1948 Porsche 356 was technically the first Porsche and really out the company on the map. It was first produced by a Austrailian company called Porsche Konstruktionen GesmbH from 1948 - 1949, and then by a German company called Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche GmbH from 1950 - 1965 where the more improved version was built.

This car is a 2 door sports car that's has a 4-cylinder engine with either a 1086cc/40hp 2x1bbl or 1086cc/46hp 2x1bbl Solex ("cc" means cubic centimeters, "bbl" means barrels, and "Solex" is the type of carburetor), and has a four speed manual transmission. There were 76,303 of this model Prosche made in total.

This Porsche comes as either a convertible, hardtop coupe, or roadster (sporty convertible), has a rear engine, and is RWD. Most of the mechanical parts of the engine and suspension came from from the Volkswagen Beetle (Type 1), which was also created by Ferdinand Porsche, or Ferry.

Hyundai Tiburon - Week 18

This blog is for my dawg, Sawyer, and his new car, a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon GT. This little sports car is part of the Korean Domestic Market (KDM) group. It's a four-passenger two-door coupe, which has a 2.7L V6 engine, a four-speed shiftable automatic transmission, it's FWD, goes from 0 - 60 in 8 seconds, 172 hp at 6000 rpm, a torque ratio of 181 ft/lbs at 4000 rpm, and a double overhead cam (DOHC), which has a wider angle between the intake and exhaust valves than single overhead cam (SOHC) engines do. This allows less restricted airflow at a higher engine speed. This vehicle also has a  MacPherson strut front suspension.

Sawyer wants to modify his new baby just a little. Form what I know, he wants to add a nice, simple body kit and a turbo to speed things up a bit. I think it's going to be dope!

Tesla Model 3 - Week 16

So the topic on Tesla's hasn't ended yet. There's a brand new model coming out, the Model 3, which you can reserve starting March 31st, 2016 at 8:30pm. Its unveiling was on March 31st, 2016 at 7:30pm. It is the cheapest model yet at about $35K, compared to the Model S and X at about $70K - $145K. This new model is like a smaller version of the Model S.

This car is a five-passenger sedan, which can go up to 215 miles per charge, goes from 0 - 60 in under six seconds, and has an autopilot safety feature. It has a supercharging capability, which means that it can use the charging stations, so you can can go on road trips wth no worries. The Model 3 is able to get about an 80 percent charge in less that 30 minutes.

Tesla is planning on making 500,000 Model 3's a year, and production starts mid to end 2017. Because of this, they are building the largest lithium ion battery factory in the world (bigger than all the others combined). Elon Musk is planning on doubling the number of superchargers from 3,600 to 7,200 within the next year.
